WALKING WITH JESUS IN EVERY SEASON

Are you in a season that feels kind of “blah?”

I’ve been there. As a matter of fact, I was there just a few months ago. And about a year ago. It’s weird how our different seasons of life fluctuate. We feel so at peace and high on life and Jesus one minute, and the next we are struggling to get through the day, wondering why we feel so unfulfilled.

It is very obvious that the main reason for this is that we are human, living in a sin-cursed world. We easily get swept into the motions and depending on what’s going on in our lives, we let that dictate the way we feel.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”

Something that I have realized is that seasons, whether exciting or filled with horrible things, have purpose. Jesus doesn’t make those bad seasons that we go through happen. Living in a sinful world is what causes pain and hurt. So when we go through seasons like that, it’s important to remember that is isn’t the Lord who intends for us to feel that way. But when we do, he always uses it to grow us in some way, shape, or form. He uses these seasons of pain, sadness, or just “blah-ness” to grow us as people so that when the good things come, we truly understand his goodness.

If it wasn’t for these mundane seasons where we just aren’t feeling ourselves, we wouldn’t appreciate the exciting, the lovely, and the good. We have to push through those mundane seasons and seek him so that we can find His goodness in our hearts.

Every time I have been through one of these seasons, in the moment, it sucks. Whether it’s physical or emotional hurt, or just feeling empty, it’s never fun. But I’ve always had to realize that when I’m there, I can’t sulk. I can’t sit around and complain about my situation and do nothing about it. I have to seek the Lord. He is the on  my one who can bring us true peace and comfort and fill the emptiness we feel inside.

So, my encouragement to you today is to seek him. If you just aren’t feeling yourself or you are going through a really hard time, you must take the initiative to fling yourself into his wide open arms. It might be hard at first. Your mind might tell you it’s too much work or effort, but we can’t find joy in the Lord without seeking him and his will.

When you seek him, you will find him.

He will teach you, grow you, fill your spirit, and bring you the peace you need. Pick yourself up. You’ve got this. And in him, there is freedom in that season you are going through.
